A Routt County District Judge on Friday sentenced a former University of Colorado student who crashed his car near Steamboat Springs in 2015 while driving intoxicated, killing another CU student, to four years in prison.
Keyan Pesaran, 23, pleaded guilty on Friday to one count each of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault, according to online court records.
The vehicular homicide charge carried a four-year sentence, and the vehicular homicide charge carried a two-year sentence, but Steamboat Today reported that Pesaran will only serve four years.Pesaran crashed his car near the 123 mile post of U.S. 40 between Milner and Steamboat Springs in December 2015. His passenger, 21-year-old Nicole Weber, was ejected from the car and died at the scene. A second passenger was also injured.
Steamboat Day reported that Pesaran had cocaine, marijuana and anti-anxiety medication in his system at the time of the crash.
