MUNCIE, IN : One dead in early morning crash north of Muncie on Thursday, 5th March, 2020

A Muncie man being pursued by law enforcement officers was killed early Thursday when his vehicle crashed at Ind. 28 and Walnut Street.

Devan Austin Twilley, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Delaware County Coroner Rick Howell said.

According to Jeff Stanley, chief deputy of the Delaware County Sheriff's Department, Twilley forced his way into a home in the 600 block of North Sycamore Street in Gaston about 1:10 a.m.

A woman, who said Twilley threatened to harm her, locked herself in a bathroom and called police, Stanley said.

Twilley left that scene just before Gaston police arrived. A pursuit began, southbound on Delaware County Road 600-W and then east on Ind. 28.
