West Yellowstone, MT : Wrong-way driver causes wreck west of Belgrade on Monday, January 30th 2017
West Yellowstone, Montana
A wrong-way driver caused a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 90 west of Belgrade on Monday night, sending one person to the hospital.
The Montana Highway Patrol said the wreck happened at about 7:35 p.m. when a Volkswagen Passat that was headed east in the westbound lanes collided nearly head-on at freeway speeds with an Oldsmobile Alero near mile marker 293.
Trooper Bertie Lau said one person was taken to the Bozeman hospital, but she did not have information on which vehicle the person came from or how many people were riding in each vehicle at the time of the crash. The extent of the person’s injuries were unknown.
The wreck closed one westbound lane of the Interstate for approximately two hours.
The patrol suspects alcohol or drugs to have played a role in the wreck, but its cause is still being investigated, Lau said. She also could not say whether anyone would be cited as a result of the incident.
