Fort Wayne, IN : 1 dead in morning crash at the 5500 block of Bell Tower Lane on Tuesday, 19th February 2019

A man is dead after crashing the car he was driving on the city's northeast side, Fort Wayne police said.

At 7 a.m., a homeowner called 911 to report a car that seemed to be involved in an accident, police said in a statement.

When crews arrived at the 5500 block of Bell Tower Lane, they found a man dead inside the car, the statement said.

Investigators believe that the man was driving west on State Boulevard when the car left the road, went over a sidewalk, hit some trees and traveled up and over an embankment where it rolled, ending up near a ditch line.

The crash is under investigation.
