Colorado Springs, CO : Colorado Springs police looking for driver in deadly hit-and-run crash on Sunday, December 4th, 2016

Colorado Springs police said Monday they're searching for a gray 2008 Ford Escape with Colorado license 413XPW related to the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian.

The vehicle is believed to have a broken windshield and front end damage where it was involved in a crash that killed a person on North Academy Boulevard just before 8 p.m. Sunday, police said. The pedestrian was said to have been crossing the southbound lanes, north of The Citadel mall, when they were hit and died at the scene.

Police have not identified the victim, pending notification of kin.

Gazette news partner KKTV reported the victim was crossing the road with a second person who was not hit. Neither pedestrians was using a crosswalk, KKTV said.

The traffic fatality is the 31st in Colorado Springs this year, police said. There were 29 traffic fatalities in the city last year.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 444-7000 or leave an anonymous tip with the Pikes Peak Crime Stoppers line at 634-7867.
