El Paso, TX : Socorro man dies in single vehicle rollover in far East El Paso early Sunday morning, April 3, 2016

A Socorro man died from injuries sustained during an early Sunday morning rollover accident in far East El Paso, El Paso police said.

Joel Herrera, 28, was driving a 2007 Mercury Milan south along the 1300 block of Joe Battle Boulevard at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday when he lost control, police said.

The vehicle struck a guard rail and rolled several times, ejecting the driver. Herrera died at the scene, police said.

Speed was a contributing factor in the accident, police said.

This was the 22nd traffic fatality in El Paso this year compared to 13 at the same time last year.
