DECATUR, AL : 72-year-old woman killed following Decatur motorcycle wreck on Saturday, 2nd November 2024

A 72-year-old woman has died following a motorcycle wreck in Decatur on Saturday evening.

According to the Decatur Police Department, officers responded to a single motorcycle wreck at 3026 Highway 20 at the Speedway gas station around 6 p.m.

After officers arrived they found a motorcyclist and passenger with injuries. Both individuals were transported to Decatur Morgan Hospital.

Police said the passenger, identified as Janet Gay Smith, 72, of Athens, later died from her injuries.
