Cantwell, AK : Driver died in a crash on the Parks Highway, south of Cantwell early Thursday morning, April 28, 2016

A driver died early Thursday morning in a crash on the Parks Highway about 15 miles south of Cantwell.

Alaska State Troopers say a southbound box van crossed the centerline at Mile 194 and crashed into a UPS tractor trailer driven by 61-year-old Karl Reid of North Pole.

Troopers took a 911 call on the incident just after 4:30 a.m.

The van caught fire.

Emergency responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene. The identity of the driver was not immediately confirmed.

Reid was not injured.
