Conroe,TX : Humble woman indicted for deadly East County crash on November, Thursday 2th 2017
An Humble woman accused of causing a fatal crash in April was indicted Thursday on an intoxicated manslaughter charge.
Corina Rose Tijerina, 21, allegedly was driving drunk when the crash killed Jacqulyn Yvette Pena, 24, of Houston, around 1 a.m. April 12 on FM 1314 near Grand Parkway. Pena was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pena was the backseat passenger in Tijerina's southbound Chevy Malibu that was southbound on FM 1314 approaching the Grand Parkway, according to a DPS report. A northbound Ford F-150 on FM 1314 entered the south side of the intersection as Tijerina attempted to turn east onto the Grand Parkway.
The two collided causing a massive crash that ejected Pena and entrapped a third passenger who was inside the Mailbu. Montgomery County Hospital District medics and Porter firefighters responded.
The person entrapped inside the Malibu was freed and hospitalized in serious condition, according to the DPS report.
Tijerina was arrested that day and charged with the second-degree felony, which could land her in prison for up to 20 years. She will be back in Judge Patty Maginnis' 435th state District Court for a hearing Monday.
