Taylor County, WV : Alvin Myers dies of injuries in hospital, Rita Myers in fair condition after single-vehicle crash near Thornton Hill on Sunday, August 31, 2014
The Taylor County Sheriff's Department has confirmed to 5 News that Alvin Myers, the man flown from an accident on Route 50 in Taylor County on Sunday, has passed away as a result of his injuries.
Deputies said he suffered severe trauma from the crash, in which he most likely hit into the steering wheel after the air bags had deployed.
At last check the woman also injured in the accident, Rita Myers, was in good condition at Ruby Memorial. She is no longer listed as a patient at the hospital.
The names of two people hurt in an accident in Taylor County Sunday afternoon have now been released.
Deputies said Alvin Myers had to be flown to Ruby Memorial following a crash on Route 50 near Thornton Hill. He's now in critical condition at the hospital. Rita Myers was also rushed to Ruby and she's in fair condition. Both are from Tunnelton.
Deputies said excessive speed and the wet roads caused the truck to crash into a rock wall.
According to emergency dispatchers, one person was flown to Ruby after a car crash in Taylor County.
It happened a little before one in the afternoon Sunday along Route 50 near Thornton Hill. Only one vehicle was involved, but two people were treated. One of them was driven to Ruby. The other was flown to the same hospital.
There's no word on their names or conditions yet. The Taylor County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
