Bradford, OH : One died in a three-vehicle crash in Bradford on Tuesday night, January 31, 2017
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in a three-vehicle crash in Bradford on Tuesday night.
The victim is 23-year-old Tyler J. Baumgardner from Troy, Ohio. The Sheriff’s Office says Baumgardner was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash happened just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Old U.S. 36 and U.S. 36 East in Bradford.
Deputies from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office say three vehicles were involved in the crash.
According to authorities, a Chevy Cruz was driving west on US-36 when it tried to pass a Ford Escape. The Cruz crashed head on into a Honda Element, causing the Element to hit the Ford Escape in the other lane.
The driver of the Chevy Cruz was taken to Wayne HealthCare, where she was treated and released. Baumgardner was riding with her in the Cruz and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda Element was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition. The driver of the Ford Escape was treated and released at the scene.
Illegal drugs were found at the scene of the crash and could be a factor, according to investigators.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office, Darke County Coroner’s Office, Gettysburg Fire, Gettysburg Rescue, Bradford Fire, Bradford Rescue and CareFlight all assisted at the scene.
