Minden, NV : Woman arrested after hitting a Minden building on Thursday, December 18, 2014
Police arrested a woman in Douglas County after a car slammed into a building that houses a gold and coin shop. It happened at Nevada Gold and Coin Shop on Highway 395 at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, 74-year-old Cheryl Smith of Minden rammed her white Pontiac Grand Am into the building three times before breaking through and coming to rest right in the middle of the store. The wall collapsed, preventing her from backing out.
Six employees were inside at the time, but no one was injured. Smith was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and is now booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence, Assault with a Deadly Weapon and felony Destruction of Property.
There is no word on how much it will cost to repair that building or how long it will take.
