Sun, LA : Mississippi woman dies in Sunday evening crash on Louisiana 21 near the Sun Village Bingo Hall, November 23, 2014
A 33-year-old Mississippi woman died Sunday from injuries suffered in a crash on Louisiana 21 near Sun, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.
The woman, Sonia Taylor, was driving a 2003 Dodge Stratus southbound when she rear-ended a 1993 Chevrolet Corvette that was slowing down to turn in the Sun Village Bingo Hall parking lot, authorities said. Both vehicles came to a stop in the median.
Taylor was taken to the Louisiana Heart Hospital where she later died, authorities said. The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine an exact cause and manner of death.
Three passengers in Taylor's car were injured in the crash.
Beth Wooten, 30, was airlifted to North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. Devon Taylor, 11, was taken to Lakeview Regional Medical Center, and Mason Taylor, 9, was taken to the Louisiana Heart Hospital.
Details of their injuries were not immediately available.
A passenger in the Corvette, Tina Bickham, 39, also was taken to Lakeview Regional Medical Center where she was treated for injuries, the sheriff's office said. Lenzy Williams, 58, of Bogalusa, was driving the Corvette.
