Sunnyvale, CA : Man killed in rollover crash on Highway 85 Monday, May 9, 2016

A man was killed in a solo rollover crash Monday on Highway 85, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported around 4:40 p.m. just north of Fremont Avenue, said CHP Officer Ross Lee.

The truck, described as a Ford F-150, veered off the roadway and onto the right-hand shoulder, where a trailer it was towing overturned, Lee said. The overturned trailer then caused the truck to flip.
The truck came to a rest at the base of a tree, Lee said.

Passers-by pulled the driver from the truck and extinguished a fire in the engine bay, Lee said. There were no other occupants.

Emergency responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene around 5:05 p.m., Lee said. He was described as a man in his 30s.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
