MANATEE COUNTY, FL : Bicyclist dies in Manatee County crash on Monday, 21st January 2019

A bicyclist was killed in a crash Monday night on U.S. 19 in Terra Ceia, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the FHP, Keith Hulbert, 53, of Treasure Island was driving a Dodge 1500 north on U.S. 19 approaching Bayshore Drive at about 7:30 p.m. Mindy O’Neill, 34, of Ellenton was riding a bicycle north on U.S. 19 on the east shoulder approaching Bayshore Drive.

While the Dodge approached the bicyclist from behind, the bicyclist crossed U.S. 19 without ensuring the road was clear. The front of the Dodge collided with the left side of the bicycle.

O’Neill, who was not wearing a helmet and did not have the lighting required for riding after sunset, was fatally injured.

Hulbert was not injured. It is not known if he was wearing a seat belt.
