A Narragansett woman has been charged with drunken driving after authorities say she crashed her car into a police cruiser and injured a North Kingstown officer.
Police say the accident happened on Tower Hill Road near Winsome Drive shortly before 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Authorities say Officer Raymond Ho had finished a traffic stop and had just gotten back into his cruiser in the breakdown lane when a vehicle driven by 54-year-old Melanie Davis crashed into the cruiser. Ho was treated at Rhode Island Hospital and released.
Davis was released on $1,000 personal recognizance and is to appear in District Court in Warwick on Dec. 15.
Davis couldn't be reached for comment Saturday. A phone listing for her couldn't be found, and it's not clear if she has a lawyer
