Allegheny Township, PA : A 3-car crash in Allegheny Township results in a car on its side, minor injuries Route 356 on Thursday, 23rd August 2018

Route 356 in Allegheny Township was shut down for about an hour Thursday night in the wake of a three-car accident.

All three drivers were treated for minor injuries.

Police and firefighters responded to the crash, which occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on the long, steep hill between the Freeport Bridge and Crain Road.

Patrolman Mark Junod said a Pontiac G6 sedan traveling toward Freeport crossed into oncoming traffic and sideswiped two cars headed toward Leechburg.

Those two cars were a Ford Edge and a Hyundai Veloster, which ended up on its side.

All three cars sustained major damage, their air bags deployed and they needed to be towed.

Junod said medics examined the three drivers and none needed hospitalization.

Motorists were stopped so emergency vehicles and tow trucks could get through the scene. Normal traffic resumed shortly after 8 p.m.
