A 23-year-old Edgewood man was killed in a single vehicle accident in Abingdon early Friday morning, Maryland State Police said.
Troopers from the Bel Air Barrack responded at approximately 12:09 a.m. to a report of a serious accident on Route 7 at Governor Court, according to a news release.
First responders found a damaged Honda passenger vehicle which had struck a utility pole, according to State Police.
The driver, identified as Christian Serrano, was transported by an Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company ambulance to University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, where he was pronounced deceased by medical personnel, police said.
According to State Police, the preliminary investigation revealed that the Ford was traveling west on Route 7 at Governor Court when, for unknown reasons, it crossed the double yellow line, left the roadway and struck the utility pole on the south side of the roadway.
