York, SC : 23-year-old woman from Monroe dead in A crash on I-77 in York County on Thursday, June 9, 2016

A crash in York County left a 23-year-old woman from Monroe dead and another behind bars charged with driving under the influence.

Thursday, troopers say Jeanine Valdes hit another vehicle from behind on I-77 north around 7:35 p.m. The collision caused the other vehicle to overturn.

The 23-year-old passenger in that other vehicle, Lacee Sullivan of Monroe, was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where she was later pronounced deceased.

Deitra Johnson, Sullivan's mother, said Friday night in a phone interview that she wishes she could bring her daughter back and give her a hug.

"I want to tell her I love her so much and we miss her already, and it's not even been 24 hours," said Johnson.

The grieving mother said her daughter loved life and loved everybody. She said Sullivan's family will miss her dearly.

"My daughter was the most beautiful girl you would ever meet," said Johnson. "Her heart was even more beautiful."

Valdes was charged with felony DUI in this case.

Deputies at the York County Jail confirm that Valdes was being held under $75,000 bond, but has since bonded out of jail.

Johnson said she forgives Valdes because that is what her daughter would want.

"I want to be angry, but my daughter loved the Lord and I know she had a forgiving heart," explained Johnson. "I know that she would forgive her and she would want me to forgive her and I have to make my daughter proud and do that so I've got to forgive her."
