Shelby, NC : Child injured in single-car crash on February, Monday 19th 2018

A child was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte with serious injuries after a crash Monday afternoon on East Zion Church Road.

According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, a woman was driving a Chevrolet Suburban with three children inside shortly after 3 p.m.

The woman reportedly fell asleep and woke up when she felt the car go off the road. She attempted to pull back onto the road not far from the intersection of McBrayer Springs Road, and lost control. The car rolled, and a 9-year-old child was thrown from the vehicle.

The two other passengers were also children, including one who is an infant.

The driver and two other children were treated at the scene.
