A 26-year-old woman was killed and six others were injured Monday afternoon when a car she was riding in collided with a pickup truck in Ogle County, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said.
A Dodge sedan lost control on the snow-covered road and crossed from the northbound lane of Illinois Route 26 into the southbound lane, colliding with a 2008 GMC pickup near Edgewood Road, according to a news release issued Tuesday by Sheriff Brian VanVickle.
The 26-year-old woman, along with a 27-year-old man and 3-year-old girl in the car were taken to Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon, where the woman was later pronounced dead, VanVickle stated. The man and child, who were not identified, suffered serious injuries.
The pickup driver, Dan Ditzler, 29, of Polo, along with a 7-month-old girl, a 2-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy in the truck with him, also were taken to KSB Hospital with minor injuries, the release said.
The crash is being investigated.
