Logan, UT : Fiery crash closes Sardine Canyon on Friday, 30th September 2016

Sardine Canyon was closed Friday evening after a Ford pickup pulling a toy-hauler crashed at the Big Curve and caught on fire at about 8:30 p.m.

According to Utah High Patrol Lt. Lee Perry, the driver was traveling northbound and the trailer began to whip as he passed through the curve. The truck crashed into the concrete barrier, causing the trailer to jackknife.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the truck, was not injured. Perry said the trailer was completely destroyed and the rear of the truck sustained some damage as well.

One southbound lane was reopened at about 9:30 p.m. but northbound lanes are expected to be closed "for a while."
