Holyoke, MA : Two people killed in vehicle crash in Holyoke on Friday January 1 2016.

Two people were killed when a driver ran a stop sign and smashed into another vehicle in Holyoke early New Year’s Day, police said.
The driver went through the stop sign at Chestnut and Hampshire streets around 4 a.m., Holyoke police Lt. Michael McCoy said. There were five people inside the car the driver hit.
Two were pronounced dead, while another two were taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield in critical condition, McCoy said. The fifth person had minor injuries, as did the at-fault driver.
The accident is still under investigation and charges are possible against the driver, McCoy said. He did not know whether alcohol was a factor.
