Woman, 70, killed when hit by car crossing Van Nuys street
A woman in her 70s was killed when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in Van Nuys, authorities said Wednesday.
The woman was fatally injured about 10:10 p.m. Tuesday at Haskell Avenue and Leadwell Street, said Los Angeles police Officer Wendy Reyes of the Media Relations Section. Authorities withheld her name, pending notification of her relatives.
According to a preliminary investigation, the woman was walking west across Haskell Avenue at Leadwell Street in an unmarked crosswalk, and a southbound vehicle stopped for her, Reyes said. However another southbound vehicle that was in the No. 2 lane hit her, Reyes said.Both motorists remained at the scene and were interviewed by police. There were no arrests, Reyes said.
