Waco, TX : 1 dead in wreck near McGregor on Wednesday evening, March 15, 2017

One person is dead after a wreck Wednesday evening on Highway 84 between McGregor and Oglesby, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. D.L. Wilson said.
A Honda car was driving west on Highway 84 ahead of a Kia car when the driver of the Honda slowed to turn left onto Burkett Lane, Wilson said in a press release. The Kia hit the back of the Honda and pushed it into the path of a semi pulling an empty tanker trailer in the opposite direction, he said.
Both the Honda and the semi caught fire in the collision. The driver of the semi, a Parr resident, escaped uninjured, but the driver of the Honda died, Wilson said.
Officials are working to identify the driver of the Honda, he said.
The driver of the Kia, a Lampasas resident, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, Wilson said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
"Drivers should be aware of driving conditions and drive without distractions," Wilson said.
