Tampa, FL : A Ruskin woman died in a car accident on Sunday, 8th April 2018

A Ruskin woman died in a car accident Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At about 11 a.m., a 1996 Mercury driven by 74-year-old Wilmette Baughman was traveling westbound on 12th Street NE when it attempted to cross U.S. 41, the FHP said.

The Mercury entered into the path of and was struck by a 2012 Kia Sedona driven by 46-year-old Georgina Meredith, also of Ruskin.

Baughman was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Ruskin where she later died from her injuries.

Meredith and her passengers, 14-year-old John Meredith and 10-year-old Matthew Meredith, were also taken to that hospital with minor injuries.

The highway patrol said all three occupants were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
