Jackson, MS : Pedestrian struck and killed by a car on Highway 80 near the intersection with Ellis Avenue on Friday, February 20, 2015

On Friday night a man was hit and killed while trying to cross Highway 80.

It happened around 7:45 near the intersection with Ellis Avenue.

Witnesses say he had run out of gas, and was attempting to cross the busy highway.

The vehicle that hit the man did not leave the scene.

An official with the Jackson Police Department tells us the victim was a 55-year-old man.

His identity is being withheld for now.
