A 21-year-old man was killed early Tuesday after being ejected from a car that hit a tree near Hillsboro, deputies say.
Jacob Haliburton of Hillsboro was a passenger in the car, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The 19-year-old male driver was taken to a trauma hospital for treatment of apparent non-life-threatening injuries, and a another male passenger, 18, was treated at the scene of the crash.
The driver and the second passenger haven’t been identified by authorities.
The sheriff’s office said a white 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse was going north on Oregon 219 about 12:30 a.m. when it left the road and hit a tree.
Excessive speed is thought to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, deputies said.
