Mason City, IA : Mason City man in critical condition after crash on Monday, January, 8th 2018
A Mason City man is in critical condition after a crash Monday morning in rural Cerro Gordo County.
Shane Fryhling-Erickson, 35, of Mason City, was the passenger in the single vehicle accident. He was listed in critical condition as of Tuesday. The driver, Patricia Fryhling-Erickson, 33, of Mason City, was treated and released.
Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash about 6 a.m. near 330th Street and Apple Avenue according to a news release by the Cerro Gordo Sheriff's Department.
A 1995 Ford Ranger was westbound on 330th Street when Patricia lost control due to slippery road conditions. The truck then entered the south ditch and struck a tree.
Shane was transported via Mercy Air Med to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa while Patricia was transported by ambulance.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and Forest City police also assisted at the scene.
No charges have been filed. The accident is still under investigation.
