Bellingham, WA : An early morning car wreck in the waters of the Nooksack River Delta on the Lummi on Wednesday, 6th June 2018

One person is dead and a Blaine man is under arrest after an early morning car wreck Wednesday in the waters of the Nooksack River Delta on the Lummi Reservation, officials said.

Trooper Heather Axtman of the Washington State Patrol confirmed that the passenger died in the crash, which was reported at 5:08 a.m. Wednesday at 4461 Lummi Shore Drive.

Axtman said the passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, hasn't been identified and relatives haven't been notified.

The driver had recently been released from jail.
