SALT LAKE CITY, UT : 3-vehicle crash kills 1, closes Interstate 15 in Utah on Friday, February 3rd 2017

Authorities say a three-vehicle crash killed one person, injured several others and closed a stretch of Interstate 15 in Utah.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce says a vehicle driven by a man in his mid-30s hit a barrier wall about 5:40 a.m. Friday in Woods Cross and came to a stop with its lights out blocking the carpool lane.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2k3sVCi ) a second car clipped the first vehicle before a third car slammed into it at freeway speed.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, and Royce says several other people from the other vehicles sustained minor injuries.

Several lanes of the interstate remained closed for more than an hour as troopers gathered evidence and cleanup crews cleared the wreckage.
