EL PASO COUNTY, CO : 1 killed, 1 injured in collision east of Colorado Springs on Sunday, 13th October 2024

One person is dead and a second person is being airlifted to a hospital following a collision east of Colorado Springs.

The crash was reported at 11:39 a.m. Sunday on Highway 24 near the intersection with Curtis Road. Two cars collided, resulting in one driver being thrown from their vehicle and other becoming pinned. Colorado State Patrol says the driver who was ejected died at the scene. The drivers were the only people in their respective cars.

Highway 24 was closed in both directions east of Colorado Springs for hours.

It opened back up around 5 p.m. State Patrol said they found that a Ford truck was heading west and crossed the center line, colliding with an eastbound Chevrolet truck.
