ORANGE COUNTY, FL : College security guard dies after being struck by suspected drunken driver on Thursday, January 26th 2017
A college security guard struck by an alleged drunken driver earlier this week died Thursday at a local hospital, the Florida Highway Patrol said.FHP investigators said Luis Lopez Garduno smashed his SUV into a golf cart driven by James Sensenbaugh at the Florida College of Integrative Medicine off Rio Grande Avenue near Orange Blossom Trail in Orange County on Tuesday night.
Sensenbaugh, 45, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he died Thursday.
Troopers said they found Garduno’s flipped SUV, and then found Garduno hiding under a building on campus.
According to the arrest report, Garduno told troopers that he was on his way home from the El Torito Bar off Orange Blossom Trail, but that he could not remember the collision.
Garduno was arrested and charged with four felonies including hit-and-run, DUI and driving without a license causing serious injury. Now that Sensenbaugh has died, charges may be upgraded or added, the FHP said.
Garduno voluntarily submitted a blood sample test, but results are not expected for six to eight weeks.
