Authorities say a Winston-Salem man in a motorized wheelchair died after he was struck by a car.Multiple media outlets report that 69-year-old Terry Lee Spencer was
struck early Friday morning on Peters Creek Parkway, a major thoroughfare.Both the Spencer and the driver were in the northbound lanes. No charges have been filed.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that there are breaks between the sidewalks in the area of Peters Creek where Spencer was hit. Officials say the city council has
approved $10 million in bonds to repair existing sidewalks and build new sidewalks.The site where the accident occurred isn't slated to get new sidewalks, but
officials say bond money will be used to install wheelchair ramps to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
