COLUMBIA, SC : 8-year-old seriously injured in Columbia crash on Wednesday, 5th June 2019

A head-on crash left three people injured over the weekend, including an 8-year-old girl.

Columbia police say a 60-year-old woman was driving down Leesburg Road when she crossed a lane and hit another car head on.

Inside the other car was an 8-year-old girl and 27-year-old Chelsea Skrzypczak, who were both transported to a local hospital. During the trip, Skrzypczak reportedly had to be revived with Narcan for a possible drug overdose.Both the child and 60-year-old woman remain hospitalized, with the child receiving treatment for serious injuries. The 60-year-old woman was also cited for driving left on center of the road.

Skrzypczak was arrested Wednesday after being released from the hospital. She is being held at the Richland County Detention Center for driving under the influence, child endangerment and driving under suspension first offense.
