Punta Gorda, FL -Two injured in crash along SR-31 near Farabee Road on Friday,June 5 2015.

Two people were injured in crash involving two semi-trucks on SR-31 in Charlotte County Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened on SR-31 near Farabee Road in Punta Gorda around 5:09 p.m.

According to Charlotte County Fire & EMS officials, an empty gravel truck was struck from behind by a Publix semi-truck. Both drivers were flown to Lee Memorial Hospital on trauma alerts.

SR-31 was shut down between Bermont Road and the DeSoto County Line for several hours, but has since reopened.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
