Jefferson County, AL : 66-year-old woman killed in Jeffco traffic crash on Thursday December 17 2015

A 66-year-old woman was killed today in a crash in western Jefferson County.
Police and rescue workers were dispatched at 10:03 a.m. to Johns Road between Powder Plant Road and the Hueytown city limits. They arrived to find that a vehicle had been traveling eastbound Johns Road and had veered off the roadway.The vehicle struck a tree and then came to rest down a slight embankment, said Bessemer police Sgt. Cortice Miles. Bessemer firefighters and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
The woman was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:22 a.m. Authorities are withholding her name pending notification of her family.
