Harrison,AR: Harrison man killed in crash as deputies chased suspect vehicle from Missouri on Monday, July 27th 2015
Arkansas State Police say 61-year-old Terry Stambaugh of Harrison and another driver were killed Monday evening in a two-car wreck on Highway 65 just south of the Missouri state line as the other driver was being pursued by Missouri law enforcement.A report by ASP Cpl. Chris Graddy said Jason Alan Adcock, 31, of Ridgedale, Missouri, was southbound on Highway 65 in a 2004 GMC pickup, while Stambaugh was northbound in a 2007 Toyota. The report said Adcock was driving southbound in the northbound lane and struck Stambaugh’s vehicle head-on. Both were killed. The report doesn’t indicate there were passengers in the vehicles.Taney County (Missouri) Sheriff Jimmie Russell said his deputies were responding to a call about 7:15 p.m. Monday regarding a domestic disturbance involving a female subject possibly run over by a vehicle in the area of Dale Avenue and Missouri state Highway 165 south of Branson. While responding, deputies met the suspect vehicle and tried to stop it, but the driver, identified as Adcock, refused to stop and fled southbound on Highway 65 South.During the ensuing pursuit, the suspect vehicle swerved into a deputy’s patrol unit, spinning both vehicles around. After the vehicles stopped, Russell said, Adcock allegedly accelerated rapidly and rammed the patrol unit broadside in the driver’s door with the deputy still in the vehicle.Adcock then allegedly continued southbound, then crossed into the northbound lanes, while deputies continued south in the southbound lanes trying to warn northbound drivers of Adcock’s approaching vehicle, Russell said. The fatality wreck occurred just south of the state line. One deputy was taken to Cox Hospital in Branson, Missouri, for treatment of injuries sustained when Adcock allegedly rammed the patrol car.
