Rock County, WI : Five people injured in crash Sunday night in Rock County June 29th 2014.
A head-on two-vehicle crash late Sunday injured five people in Rock County after a truck crossed the center line and hit an oncoming car, authorities said Monday.
Rock County sheriff's deputies were called to Highway 14 just west of N. Fox Road in the Town of Center for the crash about 9:30 p.m. and found a truck overturned and smoking in the road, according to a news release.
The driver, 17-year-old Arick A. Vance, was trapped inside and rescued by deputies, who also used a fire extinguisher to tamp down the smoke. Vance was taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
The car, a Dodge Avenger, was found in the north ditch. The driver was a 16-year-old girl from Evansville who was driving with an instructional permit with her mother, Shanda L. Miller, 42, in the car, as well as her sisters, ages 12 and 11. All four were taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center. The driver was listed in critical but stable condition with internal injuries, while the passengers received minor injuries, the news release stated.
Officials said Vance will be cited for operating left of center and that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
