LEA COUNTY, NM : Jal resident dies after a crash in Lea County on Sunday, January 15th 2017

New Mexico State Police say they’re investigating a fatal head-on crash in Lea County.

They say the accident occurred about 3 a.m. Sunday on State Road 18.

Police say a passenger car collided head-on with a semi-tractor.

It’s not immediately clear if the crash was weather-related.

The driver of the passenger car was declared dead at the scene.

Police have identified the victim as 27-year-old Elisa Armendariz and was a resident of Jal, New Mexico.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
