Marietta, GA : Austell man dead after a Single-car wreck in south Cobb on Sunday, May 15, 2016

A single-car wreck late Sunday in south Cobb left one dead, according to Cobb police.

Austell resident Emanuel Carapia, 24, was driving a yellow, 2013 Ford Focus east on Clay Road about three quarters of a mile east of Austell Powder Springs Road at about 11:50 p.m. Sunday, police say. Near the intersection of Light Way, he lost control of the car, hit a curb on the north side of the road and collided with a fence and tree before stopping, according to Cobb police.

Carapia was taken by ambulance to WellStar Cobb Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Sgt. Dana Pierce, spokesman for Cobb police.

“Investigators believe that speed was a factor in the collision,” Pierce said in a news release.
