Muscatine, IA : Three people injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 61 near the Fruitland turn-off Monday evening, June 13, 2016

Three people including a pregnant woman were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 61 near the Fruitland turn-off Monday evening.

According to the Muscatine Police Department, a Chevrolet Equinox driven by Donald R. Jackson, 88, Moscow, was southbound on Highway 61 at the intersection with 67th Avenue West traveling on the inside lane. Jackson turned left abruptly from the inside lane into the median area. He failed to obey the posted stop sign and continued across the road where he broadsided a Ford Escape driven by Sonjia C. Brundage, 23, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The Brundage vehicle rolled multiple times across the northbound lanes of Highway 61 coming to rest on its top in the east ditch. She had to be extricated from the vehicle. Brundage was taken by Air Care to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. No information on her condition is available at this time.

Jackson's vehicle spun 180 degrees coming to rest in the northbound lanes of Highway 61. He and a passenger in the vehicle, Evelyn I. Hinkhouse, 78, Atalissa, were transported by family members to an unknown location, according to the accident report.

The accident was reported at 5:34 p.m. Monday.

Jackson was charged with turning from an improper lane and failure to obey a stop sign, according to the accident report.
