COSTILLA COUNTY, CO : San Luis woman dies in accident on Wednesday, March 16th 2017

A San Luis woman died Wednesday evening after her vehicle rolled and hit a tree in rural Costilla County.

On March 15 at 6:20 p.m. troopers from the Colorado State Patrol responded to a single vehicle crash on Juarez Road near Remson Road in the Sangre De Cristo Ranches in Costilla County between Fort Garland and San Luis.

The female driver, Ida Price, 58, of San Luis, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound on Juarez Road when she lost control on the gravel road. The vehicle started rotating counter-clockwise and ran off the left side of the road where the vehicle rolled and struck a large tree.

Price, who was not wearing a seat-belt, was ejected from the vehicle. Price was pronounced dead on the scene by the Costilla County Coroner.

Excessive speed and alcohol are being considered factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
