Kerman, CA : Man died when car swerved off the road and collided with a tree near American and Lake avenues on Monday morning, Sep 28, 2015

A man was killed when his car swerved off the road Monday morning and collided with a tree near Kerman, the California Highway Patrol said.

He was driving a 1993 Honda Civic at a high speed, CHP reports, when he crashed into an almond orchard near American and Lake avenues. His name is being withheld until family can be notified.

Officers are unsure if drugs or alcohol were at play, and the collision is under investigation.
