Southaven, MS : Olive Branch man killed in a motorcycle crash on Church Road near Getwell Road on Tuesday evening, June 21, 2016
Southaven police have identified the Olive Branch man killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday evening. Aaron Leavitt died after the crash on Church Road near Getwell Road in Southaven. Police said a 31-year-old woman turned in front of him as he was riding eastbound on Church Road on his 2008 Harley Davidson.
Police said the motorcycle hit the Nissan that woman was driving and a Ford F-250. The Nissan went on to also hit a Chevy. Pictures from the scene show motorcycle parts strewn for blocks on the road.
Aaron Leavitt was taken by air ambulance to Regional One by Hospital Wing where he died. Police haven't named the woman driving the Nissan or released if she will face charges.
Leavitt worked at Southern Thunder Harley Davidson. He was leaving work when the accident happened, according to the dealership. I recognized his name and called to confirm it was the same Aaron I've met at the store.
"It was quite a shock to all of us. He worked yesterday. We are feeling a great loss today, the whole dealership," said Tonya Walsch office manager at Southern Thunder.
Walsch said Leavitt has two teenage sons. They have already expressed that they would like to see as many motorcycles at his funeral as possible. I will pass that information along as soon as I get it.
WMC Action News 5 has teamed up with the Motorcycle Awareness Campaign to spread the word about motorcycle safety.
