Anne Arundel County, MD : Three men in a pickup crash into a tree in Pasadena early Sunday, January 1, 2017

Two men were seriously injured early Sunday near Downs Park in Pasadena when their pickup truck ran off their road and crashed into a tree, Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials said.

Paramedics and Anne Arundel County police were called to Patapsco Road where it turns into Park Green Way around 2:15 a.m. They found a 2002 Dodge Ram that had driven about 40 feet into the woods before striking a tree.

Driver Thomas Zachary Southerland, 18, of Pasadena was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to the Shock Trauma Center at University Hospital in Baltimore with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Passenger Jarrett Alden, 18, was taken by ambulance to the center with serious but not life-threatening injuries. A third passenger, 18-year-old Joseph Anthony Soroka, was treated on the scene by paramedics.

A county police spokesman said an investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
