Chico, CA : Cohasset Road closed after vehicle crashes into pole on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016

Cohasset Road was closed for several hours Saturday after a vehicle crashed into a power pole.

Shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday, two vehicles driving northbound on Cohasset Road collided, and a white pick-up truck involved struck a power pole near Parmac Road, knocking it over, Chico police Sgt. Brian Miller said. Initial reports indicated that just one car was involved.

The driver of the truck suffered some minor injuries, Miller said.

The accident resulted in downed power lines and Cohasset Road was closed through Rio Lindo Avenue for several hours. Several traffic lights nearby also lost power.

PG&E reported that approximately 809 customers in the area were affected and estimated that power would be restored by 5:15 p.m. By 6:30 p.m., PG&E estimated that just 91 customers were impacted and that power would be restored by 1:00 a.m.

As of 6:30 p.m., PG&E was still on scene replacing the power pole and Cohasset Road remained closed. Police anticipated that it would remained close for a while longer.

Miller said police were grateful that injuries were minimal.

“We were happy that it wasn’t a major injury accident,” Miller said. “People move through there pretty quickly.”
