Taylorsville (Town), Florida
A Pavo man with Moultrie ties died in a single-vehicle semi-truck crash in Florida Monday night.
Bailey Heard, 36, was driving the truck south on U.S. 221 just south of Boyd Road in Taylor County when he left the road and hit a metal guardrail, the Florida Highway Patrol told The Moultrie Observer’s Racom affiliate WTXL in Tallahassee. That intersection is a short distance north of Perry, Fla.
Troopers say the semi flipped and burst into flames.
Heard was pronounced dead at the scene, WTXL reported. A passenger suffered minor injuries but is expected to recover.
Heard was the son of Frank Shipp (Buck) Heard and wife Lynn of Moultrie and of Kathy Helen Rogers of Waverly, Ga., according to his obituary. Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Westview Cemetery.
