Port Hueneme , CA : Bicyclist hit by van in on Tuesday evening ,July 14th 2015

A bicyclist was seriously injured Tuesday evening in Port Hueneme when he was hit by a van in a crosswalk, officials said Wednesday.

The crash was reported about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Florence Avenue and Pleasant Valley Road, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

The bicyclist, an 18-year-old man, was crossing in a designated crosswalk when a van hit him, said Port Hueneme police Sgt. Chris Graham.

The man appeared to have facial injuries and a possible head injury and was taken to Ventura County Medical Center.
