Louisville, KY: Man killed in Sunday morning motorcycle accident on Sunday, August 2nd 2015

One man was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday morning near Dixie Highway, according to LMPD officials.Police were called to the 11000 block of Flowervale Lane, near Dixie Highway, according to LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley.The crash happened just after 3 a.m. Sunday, according to a MetroSafe dispatcher.Police say the driver of the motorcycle was approaching a sharp curve at high speed, when he tried to apply the brakes.Officials say the motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and hit a street sign and a tree.The bike hit a guard rail before coming to a rest, officials say.Smiley said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and he was pronounced dead at the scene.Police say there were no other injuries.
